What causes poverty in Nigeria?
Poverty in Nigeria can be caused by the political instability of the country by:
- Income Inequality
- Ethnic Conflict
-Corruption
-Lack Of Education
Income inequality is an indicator that tells people how much resources are distributed across society.
This is a big problem in Nigeria because in Nigeria's rural areas they have low access to the resources in the urban areas. Also the government is making a lot of money and they are not using any of it to help the 70% of the people who are living on $1. Nigerian rural and preriurban areas have low access to the lack of productive input and because of this the rural and preriurban areas have environmental oregredation, slow agricultural growth, high population and poor infraction facilities.
Ethnic conflict is also one of the causes of poverty because there are over 120 languages spoken, and Nigeria is separated between Muslims and Christians. They have been killing each other and have not been able to come together to meet their common goals.
Corruption is one of the main reason why Nigeria is also poor. Nigeria's government is very corrupt, and this is because nobody in the government cares about the extremely poor people who live on $1 a day. The only reason why people join the government is to get rich quickly. Nigeria does make money, with agriculture and other jobs that which altogether accumulate lots of money, and the government takes most of it and keeps it to themselves. There are no rules put into place to fight their corrupted government.
The lack of education is another big part that causes Nigeria to be poor, because so many people in Nigeria have little to know about education, and there are way fewer jobs than there could be if everybody has an education. In Nigeria their is a mass of unemployment and lack of productivity. Unemployment causes human waste leading to diseases, wellbeing and supply in goods can be attributed to this. Also Nigerians don't have good practical skills training. So many Nigerian entrepreneurs have secondary education.
